Individual Student-Teacher Talk in PBL

About halfway through the PBL period (1 or 1/2 semester), each student is entitled to have an individual talk with the tutor to evaluate how the PBL process is working for both parties.

The talk is for advisory purposes only. It is not part of any formal assessment.

The talk will deal with mutual feedback on the role and function of the tutor and student in the problem-based learning group. It is possible to bring up questions and issues of a more personal nature during the talk, but this is not mandatory. The tutor must determine whether any criticism of the semester is of such a nature that it should be brought on to the semester committee, with a view to taking action.

The talk will usually last about 20 minutes.  The time will be agreed between the tutor and each student in the group. It is a right and an obligation for both the tutor and and the students. Both student and tutor must be informed of the purpose and procedure of the talk before it takes place.

These guidelines were approved by the Dean of studies on 04 December 2006
