In her new project, FINALphagy, Knævelsrud will study how autophagy is turned off in the body. One of the aims of her research is that it should be applicable in the development of new forms of cancer treatment.

Harald Stenmark receives the award for his pioneering research in the field of cancer. He has particularly focused on proteins that are central to cell division and to the regulation of the cells' sorting system. Both these processes are critical to understand the cellular events underlying cancer.

Almost all over the world, English is the preferred scientific language. CanCell is no exemption in this statistics as English is the main language used here. But how does those who work in our labs experience this?
We have spoken to Chara Charsou which is a researcher in the autophagy group and member in CanCells own equality forum which works for equality regardless of background, gender, sexual orientation or religion.
And to Andrea Moen Brodersen who is a master’s student in Jorrit Enserinks lab group, Cancer Molecular Medicine

The Norwegian Centre for Molecular Medicine (NCMM) is working internationally to promote young and talented researchers to grow. The centre focus on molecular medicine, translational research and biotechnology and it is part of a big commitment to life sciences done by UiO. CanCell researcher Helene Knævelsrud has been appointed as a young associate investigator and Anne Simonsen has been re- elected as an associate investigator in the centre for the second time.
