Interdisciplinary Sandpit Programme: Sustainable Environment, Climate and/or Energy

The Programme brings academics together with the aims to develop the competencies required to initiate and develop interdisciplinary working, knowledge exchange, innovative activity and creative thinking. Deadline: 15 August 2024. 

The programme is designed to introduce academics to new ways of thinking and working, with the ultimate goal of creating long-term shifts in attitude towards openness, breadth and vision in collaboration. It aims to develop the competencies required to initiate and develop interdisciplinary working, knowledge exchange, innovative activity and creative thinking. 

What is the Sandpit Programme/Scheme?

The Programme is a series of two in-person and online events over a three-month period bringing together people from different disciplines to allow you to network with other academics, build a strong network, develop ideas together, and apply for pump priming to further explore and mature these ideas. The sessions are a mix of inspiring talks as well as short, facilitated sessions that provides lots of time to collaborate.

Eligibility

  • The Programme is open to all early and mid-career researchers (up to 10 years after completion of PhD degree) who are either holding a permanent position at the University of Oslo or permanent researchers affiliated with one of the members of Oslo Science City or CIENS.
  • Candidates in tenure track or permanent researcher positions are also regarded as qualified.
  • Early-career academics are defined as: within ten years of their PhD award, or equivalent professional training.
  • Postdoctoral Researchers and Temporary Research Fellows are not eligible to apply for this specific programme

Funding

All the costs related to the participation in the Sandpits (travel, accommodation, and subsistence) will be covered by the University of Oslo.
