National researcher schools for working life relevance

The Norwegian Research Council (RCN) has pre-announced a call to establish new research schools to strengthen the working life relevance of doctoral education. Internal deadline: 1 October 2024.

Internal process

Researchers from the Faculty of Medicine (MED) who are planning to submit an application for this call must consult the Faculty Research Support no later than 1 October 2024. Please send an email to: forskerutdanning@medisin.uio.no including a brief summary of the planned Researcher school. This is important to make sure that the plans are not overlapping the existing courses in the MED PhD programme. Additional information concerning the organization, responsibilities and anchorage of applications at the Faculty of Medicine will be published in August.

The call

The purpose of the call is to give scholarship holders access to doctoral courses of high scientific quality and a professional network and research community, and to strengthen the relevance of doctoral education for a wider working life. This will be done through the establishment of up to seven new research schools.

Eligibility

Norwegian universities and colleges with the right to award doctoral degrees can apply. In addition, the call requires cooperation with at least one other business, e.g. an actor from business or the public sector

Thematic priorities

The call covers all subjects and research areas. In addition, the call will have earmarked funds with specified priorities.

NOK 80 million will go to research schools without thematic prioritization. RCN will publish more information about the specific priorities in the coming weeks.
