Applicants who do not have a right to study at UiO
Applicants who are not admitted to a PhD programme or the Medical Student Research Programme at UiO must apply for a right to study in SøknadsWeb before they can apply for PhD courses in medicine and health sciences.
Application period for a right to study in Søknadsweb is 1 November - 1 May for the spring semester and 1 May - 1 November for the autumn semester.
External applicants should apply for a right to study minimum 3 weeks before the course application deadline.
Application for evaluation before Christmas
Application for evaluation (thesis and committee proposal) must be handed in by midnight Monday 6 November 2023 for the committee to be appointed before Christmas. The application must be complete. It is not possible to hand in the committee proposal before the deadline and the thesis after the deadline, or vice versa.
Trial lecture and public defence

- Timeframes in connecton with the committee's recommendation: The evaluation committee has three months to submit a recommendation. When a candidate has handed in a revision of a submitted thesis, the evaluation committee must present its final recommendation within 1 month after submission of thesis.
