Leave of Absence or Part-time Studies

As a programme student, you can apply for a leave of absence from your studies or to pursue part-time studies for a period.

Leave of Absence

Students admitted to a full-time programme of study may apply for a leave of absence, but there are requirements for the timing of the application and the length of the leave. A leave of absence is normally not given for more than two semesters at the time. If a longer leave of absence is needed, a new application is required.

The application must be sent to the programme's Study Administration.

Examples of possible grounds for a leave of absence:

  • Parental Leave
  • Illness
  • Completion of military or civilian service
  • Very significant responsibilities for nursing/taking care of family members

Part-time Studies

Students admitted to a full-time programme of study may apply to be part-time students, but there are requirements for the timing of the application and the duration of the part-time studies.

Application Deadlines

The deadlines for an application for a leave of absence or part-time studies in the Bachelor programme in Health Management and Health Economics and the Master's programmes are:

  • 15 May for the autumn semester
  • 1 November for the spring semester

If a need for part-time studies should arise after the deadline, the application must be sent as soon as possible after the need arose.

Contact the programme's Study Administration for further information about the application  for a leave of absence or part-time studies.
