Academic Calendar - Medicine

The academic year at the University of Oslo is divided into two semesters,- autumn and spring.

The autumn semester runs from early/mid-August until approximately 20 December for all studies at UiO.

When it comes to the spring semester, the medical programme has a derogation from the official start at UiO. This entails the following for exchange students to medicine:

you have to rent student housing from 1 January in order to be on the priority list

the welcome week at UiO will commence n January 2025

Norwegian classes will start from mid-January 2025

the MED5600 course starts late January / early February

the starting dates in the table below are referring to the date you should be here for MRSA screening; the teaching will start one week later

Concerning the announced ending dates for both autumn and spring semester:

if necessary, exams can be held slightly after the announced ending date

you are referred to the regular re-sits, taking place in August for the spring semester, and in January for the autumn semester
