This meeting in Kathmandu, Nepal will bring together practitioners, researchers, and experts from diverse traditions to discuss the implications of religious and spiritual teachings for mental health theory, policy, and practice. The aim is to advance mental health programs in Nepal and globally in ways that are informed by local cultural knowledge, values and traditions.

Honorary guest and speaker: Holberg Prize Winner and Professor Julia Kristeva, Université Paris Diderot. Key note speakers:  Professor Marie Rose Moro, Université Paris Descartes, Professor Brian Hurwitz, King's College London and Professor Trish Greenhalgh, University of Oxford.

Roundtable discussion chaired by Brandy Schillace, Editor-in-chief of BMJ’s Medical Humanities Journal (London). Commentary to Julia Kristeva's lecture by Prof. Rosemarie Garland-Thomson (Emory University).

In the current global effort to achieve the sustainable development goals (SDGs) and universal health coverage (UHC), maternity care is squarely in the center. Since the year 2000 coverage of facility delivery and skilled birth attendance increased, while the maternal mortality ratio decreased, at rates slower than hoped for, partially because of inadequate quality of care.

Anne Kveim Lie vant UiOs utdanningspris for 2018. Masterstudent i internasjonal samfunnshelse Salma A. Eljailani Ahmed vant prisen for beste bærekraftsmasteroppgave. 20 september feirer vi dem ved Fredrik Holsts hus.

Norges store dramatiker Henrik Ibsen jobbet som farmasøytisk medhjelper på apotek samtidig som hans drøm om å bli forfatter begynte å spire frem. I Ibsens verk møter vi for eksempel flere leger og finner henvisninger til ny kunnskap fra forskningsfronten innen naturvitenskap, ja på en måte gir Ibsen oss en «snikinnføring» i realfag i sine verker.

From discovery to translation and innovation

Denne transatlantiske konferansen har til formål å styrke samarbeid mellom USA, Norge og de øvrige land i Norden for å fremme forskning og utvikling innen ‘Precision Neuroscience’, hvor diagnose og behandling av sykdommer i hjernen baserer seg på presis kunnskap om sykdommens og den enkelte pasients egenskaper.
