Psychiatrist, jurist, and researcher focusing on the impact of policies on healthcare delivery and quality. Authored several publications, including scientific articles, official reports, and a book chapter, exploring health policy, health law, and ethics. Currently finalizing an interdisciplinary Ph.D. in mental health policy, focusing on the introduction of capacity-based mental health legislation in Norway.
Previously, served as Head of the Secretariat in the Expert Committee on Decision-Making Capacity, contributing to key policy recommendations for Norway's mental health system. Also authored authoritative interpretations of the Norwegian Mental Health Care Act as a Senior Advisor at the Norwegian Directorate of Health and represented the Norwegian state in court as a litigating lawyer. Additionally, provided quality patient care and served as Chief Physician at the adult psychiatric division of Diakonhjemmet Hospital in Oslo.
Has extensive experience in teaching students and professionals at national and international events. Examples include several lectures and seminars on psychiatry, health law, and ethics to students and staff at the University of Oslo, as well as numerous conferences and seminars for health professionals and lawyers.
Has received several academic scholarships. Currently, serving as a 2023-24 Visiting Fulbright Scholar at Columbia University. Next year, will be a 2024-25 Harkness Fellow in Health Care Policy and Practice at Columbia and Harvard University.
