Background

Dr. Ram KM Shrestha is a renowned surgeon who left his successful career in Austria at the age of 32 to work on something that would benefit the larger community. He established Dhulikhel Hospital in his home country of Nepal as a model community hospital that would serve people irrespective of their background, putting lives first. He is also celebrated for his contribution to the development of Kathmandu University during two terms as Vice-Chancellor. During this seminar, he will present his philosophy, and the journey that started with a treatment centre with four rooms, 25 years ago and is now a full-fledged University hospital with 18 community health centres across Nepal.
