The Nobel Peace Prize for 2023 has been awarded to Narges Mohammadi for her fight against the oppression of women, and to promote human rights in Iran. Narges Mohammadi's tireless efforts have brought to light the struggles faced by women in Iran, where they confront systemic discrimination and gender-based violence. WGH Norway’s 8 March celebration 2023 shed light on the topic of ensuring equity and equality for women globally. We discussed how gender discrimination and overt oppression has affected Iranian women’s health and agency and how to support them.

WGH Norway and CGH welcomes you to a seminar celebrating Narges Mohammadi’s award by shedding light on violence against women and women’s vulnerability from a health perspective. Violence against women remains a pressing global concern, transcending borders, cultures, and socio-political landscapes. It is a violation of human rights that affects millions of women around the world, regardless of their nationality, age, or social status. In this seminar, we focus our attention on the experiences faced by women in both Iran and globally.
