- It’s an honor to receive the award and I think it’s great to know that my work is being appreciated, says Kaminski.

It is the magazine Journal Weekly Polityka that each year hands out the award. The ceremony gets a lot of attention in Poland and is given to young researchers that have made a remarkable impact within their field. The award itself is divided into five different categories, with one recipient in each category. Kaminski received the award for best researcher within «Life sciences».

- This is very motivating for further research, and I find it especially important that this is an award that not only focuses on the research, but also on the relevance and the communication of the results to the general public, Kaminski explains.

There are two different committees evaluating the nominees. All the nominees are evaluated regarding both the quality of their research and on how they communicate their findings. The research should be of great relevance for the public health, and the researchers themselves must be good at communicating the results of their research to the public.

Kaminski is a medical doctor at the Center of Oncology Institute in Warsaw, and he fulfilled his PhD in 2011. He is now cooperating with the Clinical Effectiveness research group at the University of Oslo, and he has during the recent years contributed greatly within research on colorectal cancer and screening.

- I feel very welcome at the University and I really appreciate the cooperation with researchers here. It’s the first time that I’m here for a longer period of time, and it’s great to have the opportunity to engage in discussions and projects with researchers within my field, says Kaminski.

The team from Poland wanted to create a detailed presentation of Kaminski and followed him around for an entire day at UiO, Rikshospitalet and in Nordmarka.
