About the group
The Research Group for General Practice Health Services Research aims to contribute to research-based knowledge on the following topics:
What are general practitioners´ work tasks, and how do they work?
What are the population´s expectations of and experiences with services provided by general practitioners?
How do organisational/structural framework affect general practice services?
How can quality improvement be better implemented in general practice services?
The research group was established due to a perceived lack of a focal point for researchers interested in research on general practice health services. Health service research often focuses on large registry studies, typically based on specialized health services. ALHF aims to conduct basic research on the general practice health services, as well as serve as a focal point for other health service researchers seeking participation and input from reviewers with knowledge of general practice.
We focus on initiating and carry out our own research projects. Additionally, we wish to contribute in research projects based within the specialized health services, to ensure a good understanding of each other's tasks and increased research-based knowledge and improvement of interaction between different levels of the health services. We also emphasize participating in international studies, both to learn from others and to contribute valuable knowledge from the Norwegian general practice services to environments where primary health care may not have the same focus.
