Hellesø, who is associated with the Institute of Public Health in Aarhus, is one of a total of 47 professors to receive the title "Honorary Skou Professor" at the Faculty of Health. These appointments are part of Aarhus University's strategy to strengthen international research and education collaboration.

The appointment is named after Jens Christian Skou, who received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1997. The candidates are selected from the top 100 ranked universities in the world.

"With these appointments, the faculty leadership aims to bring new perspectives to teaching, strengthen relationships with leading research units abroad, and establish joint research projects and funding applications," writes Aarhus University on its website.

Hellesø and the field of nursing science are collaborating with the university on the development of healthcare services for older patients with complex diseases. The two institutions also share an interest in developing new educational models in primary healthcare.

"The appointment opens up new opportunities and closer collaboration within the department and across the Faculty of Health," says Hellesø. As part of the appointment, each of the appointed professors was allowed to invite a researcher from their own environment who is in the early stages of their career, with the purpose of networking. In the field of nursing science, Edel Svendsen was invited.

The inauguration took place on October 8th in Aarhus. We congratulate Ragnhild Hellesø on her appointment. Read more on Aarhus University's website.
