BIO at summer conferences in 2022

The BIO team's Isa Dussauge, Ketil Slagstad and Anne Kveim Lie presents their research at the NORA conference 2022 and the Society for the Social History of Medicine Biennial Conference.

This summer, the BIO team was busy presenting on conferences. At the NORA conference 2022, Isa Dussauge and Ketil Slagstad gave papers on Norwegian HIV/AIDS history. Isa talked about the spill over effect from HIV/AIDS activism to drug users activism, and Ketil presented on the "amphibiousness" of HIV/AIDS activism.

At the Society for the Social History of Medicine Biennial Conference in Swansea, Ketil gave a related paper on the role of lesbian and gay health professionals and activists in the early phase of the AIDS epidemic in Norway. Anne Kveim Lie presented on the (bio)medicalization and demedicalization of drug use in the 1990s, and diachronic and synchronic discourses across different social subgroups at that time.
