Kenya’s successes in maternal mortality reduction may be reversed by Covid-19, as resources and personnel were reallocated, women were afraid of visiting health facilities, and night curfews restricted their access. This sub-project, conducted by the postdoc in public health, seeks to explore, using ethnographic and qualitative methods, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the antenatal care attendance, maternal health-seeking, facility delivery and referral. With a focus on mothers and health workers, we explore women´s experience of giving birth under the anti-epidemic measures introduced by the Kenyan government.
