Techno-ethics: on technology and values (completed)

Technology has become an ever more dominating part of medicine and health care. Although technology has traditionally been conceived of as value neutral tool for an (external) moral end, it has become clear that technology engages in the play of values in health care.

Objectives

To analyze the relationship between technology and values in medicine and health care.

Background

The project stems from Bjørn Hofmann’s PhD dissertation.

Financing

The project is financed by the Norwegian Research Council 1998-2002 and thereafter by the University College of Gjøvik with minor contributions from UiO

Cooperation

  • University College of Gjøvik
