Procedure for disposal
- Allow the acrylamide solution to polymerize before disposing of it in yellow toxic waste containers (polymerize: i.e. add TEMED + APS).
- Solutions that contain 0.1% ß-mercaptoethanol or more must be collected in labelled plastic bottles and handled as hazardous waste.
- Pipette tips used for ß-mercaptoethanol must be collected in a closed container and handled as hazardous waste.
- Solutions that contain 3% methanol or more must be handled as hazardous waste.
- Contaminated plastic equipment must be disposed of in yellow toxic waste containers.
- Solutions that contain 0.1% Na-azide or more must be collected in plastic bottles and handled as hazardous waste.
- Kits: waste must be handled according to the HSE data sheet that comes with the kit.
