UiODoc is ready for the year's very first PhD and Postdoc Breakfast Club! We hope you will join us in listening to Matthew Good's timely talk about his Digital Scholarship Center project and the increasingly important digital research.
The pandemic, while still ongoing, has already had a dramatic impact on UiO activity and highlighted issues with implications that are yet to be fully grasped. This panel discussion is an attempt at opening up a UiO-wide conversation that will enable influential voices in the university research environment to share their experience and perspectives on this situation. Specifically, we will focus on:
-
How does COVID-19 affect early career researchers?
-
What are the institutions doing to mitigate the impact?
-
What are foreseeable difficulties on the implementation of such measures?
UiODoc is proud to host a Christmas quiz this 17 December at 12:30 pm. Let’s test and stretch those brain cells for the last time this year and right before the Christmas break (and before the longest year ever ends aka 2020).

Women Researchers in Informatics (WRI) in collaboration with UiODoc are hosting the webinar Preparation for Academic Jobs after PhD. The webinar will be an informative series of talks providing attending PhDs and PostDocs with the means to prepare themselves for interviews for the next positions within academia and beyond. You will also learn about the evaluation process for postdoc and faculty positions, including the interview phase. The webinar consists of two talks and a panel discussion with space for the participants to ask questions.
Pitching - a short persuasive presentation - is an essential skill for both arguing for your research and landing your next job. In this breakfast talk by Alan Louis Belardinelli, we will gain new insights into how to pitch yourself for employers.
