Opening hours and administrative staffing at IMB summer 2023

See below for information about opening hours and services available at the Institute during the summer.

Summer working hours

Employees in technical/administrative posts governed by the flexitime scheme (with different working hours in the summer and winter respectively), have a 7-hour working day from 15th May to 14th September.

Access to Domus Medica and Domus Medica tilbygg

the Domus Medica buildingFrom Monday 26th June until Friday 4th August, both buildings are closed and you must use your UiO access card and code in order to enter the buildings. 

Please note that Domus Medica is closed for everyone from Monday 17th July until Sunday 30th July because a new main electrical switchboard is being installed. Domus Medica tilbygg is not affected by this and is open for employees, students and visitors during this period (with an access card and code)

If you have problems with your UiO access card, please contact the Security Operation Center.

Main reception desk

The main reception desk is closed from 5th July to 30th July. During this period all main reception serivces will not be operating and the main reception will only function as a goods delivery point (see further information below). No approvals for access, access cards og keys will be issued during this time.   

Applications for affiliation will not be processed from 5th July to 31st July.

Goods delivery

From 26th June until 14th July, goods can be delivered to the main reception desk in Domus Medica.

From 17th July to 30th July, when Domus Medica is closed, goods can be delivered to Domus Medica tilbygg, room LU035. The contact person for this is Josh Taylor.

Education management/student advisory service

The education management /student advisory service is closed from 10th July to 28th July. From 3rd to 7th July,  Hafte Tolesa will be the acting contact person for module 1, module 2 and Master of clinical nutrition. Please allow for longer response times.

Purchasing

The purchasing coordinators are absent from 10th to 28th of July. Local purchasing officers will inform their respective research groups about how purchases will be processed in their absence. 

HR and HSE

HR is partly staffed during the entire summer, except during the period from 17th to 28th July. Contact personal@basalmed.uio.no for all inquiries relating to HR and a member of staff on duty will answer your query. Please note that reduced staff means that response times will be longer than usual.

The Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) coordinator will absent from 3rd to 28th July 3.  Please always use the e-mail hms-koordinator@basalmed.uio.no for sending enquiries/requests to HSE. Urgent matters will be attended to.

Finance and research administration

Staffing in the Finance Section will be reduced throughout July and until the first week of August. Response times will be longer than normal during this period.

From 17th to 28th July, no finance officers will be on duty. We will have contingency measures in place to deal with emergencies that cannot wait. The finance officers will stand in for one another during the summer months, and their automated out-of-office replies will inform you of whom to contact.

The research administration staff is not available from 12th July until 2nd August. 

A reduced number of staff will process applications for travel reimbursements and other expenses throughout the summer. The same applies to assignment and hourly contracts .

Communications and web editing

The Institute's communications adviser/web publisher is unavailable throughout July.

Anatomy bequest program

The anatomy bequest program coordinator is absent from 17th to 30th July. Enquiries to  legemedonasjon@basalmed.uio.no will be answered if the request is urgent. In case of emergencies only, the program coordinator can be reached on mobile 907 22 067.

Section for Comparative Medicine

The Section for Comparative Medicine will remain open throughout the summer except Monday 17th July until Sunday 30th July, when the building is closed. 

Please be aware that suppliers can only make limited deliveries of animals during the summer. Further information will be provided by email.  

We respond to enquiries to komparativ@medisin.uio.no throughout the summer.

Internal services

The Electronic Workshop is closed from 3rd to 7th July, and 17th July to 4th August.  

The Mechanical Workshop is closed 17th to 28th July. 

The Photography and Graphics unit is closed 17th to 28th July and a few additional days throughout the summer.

The IT Department is staffed throughout the summer but will be temporarily relocated to Domus Medica tilbygg room L115. Please contact them by email it-hjelp@basalmed.uio.no or on tel. 22 85 12 00.

The Section Manager for Internal Services is unavailable from 31st July to 18th August.
