Academic interests

Currently, I am enrolled as a doctoral student at the University of Oslo, Faculty of Medicine. I am engaged in research within the fields of organ donation and physiology, with a specific focus on mitochondrial function.

Project objectives:

  • To characterize and enhance mitochondrial function during machine perfusion in order to better preserve liver and heart organs for transplantation.
  • To identify prognostic and diagnostic biomarkers in the context of heart and liver transplantation.
  • To improve machine perfusion of heart and liver organs through the utilization of animal models.

Background

I am a physician with one year of work experience in preventive and surveillance medicine as part of the Italian COVID-19 response campaign. My previous research experience is related to gerontology and space medicine, pursued through international collaborations.
