A causal approach for the analyses of graded sickness absence

Abstract

Using inverse probability treatment weights (IPTW), this study compares full (100%) to graded (<100%) sickness absence. Structuring of the data, to obtain comparisons that can be interpreted as contrafactual, is crucial for comparisons of sickleave spells during the time span, before calculations of the IPTW.
