It is our aim to provide new knowledge on the glycobiology of inflammation, obesity and atherosclerosis by focusing on serglycin, a proteoglycan expressed by immune cell and endothelial cells, using serglycin knock-out mice.
We want to investigate the functions of extracellular matrix components and proteoglycans in kidney filtration and to investigate if proteoglycans in the syndecan family can be used as clinical markers for early kidney changes in diabetes.
To provide new insight into nutritional challenges for persons with intellectual disabilities and to perform intervention studies on strategies to improve their health and nutritional status.
