Summary

Moses Ngari studied mortality and growth among children following discharge from hospitals in Kenya. Mortality was highest for children less than 6 months and among those suffering from severe acute malnutrition. Notably, these children had elevated risk of life threatening events compared with non-hospitalized children in the community.
