Meet PhD student Siri Andresen

Siri Andresen joins FINALphagy as a PhD student from January 2024.

Siri Andresen new PhD student.

Welcome to FINALphagy, Siri! Could you tell us a bit about yourself? What is your background?
I have a Master's in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from the University of Oslo. During my thesis, I investigated the roles of the TOR pathway and the Ubiquitin Proteasome System in autophagy termination, using Drosophila melanogaster as my model. This work sparked my passion for diving deeper into the fascinating world of autophagy in this amazing model organism!

What will you work on in FINALphagy?
My role in FINALphagy will involve advancing new tools and methods for precise manipulation and measurement of autophagy, which I will then use to investigate autophagy termination in the context of a whole organism.

What are your expectations for working on this project?
My expectation is to bring new insight into the largely unexplored area of autophagy termination, and thereby fill substantial knowledge gaps in this field. Additionally, I hope to develop and advance new tools and methods, which can be used to uncover the regulation of autophagy and other related fields.
