NORMO Pilot study (completed)

This pilot will test the questionnaire, interview process and invitation letter before the third data collection of the Nordic monitoring of diet, physical activity and overweight (NORMO). 

About the project

This is the pilot study of the Nordic monitoring of diet, physical activity and overweight (NORMO), which commences in the autumn of 2023. Two independent pilot studies in Sweden and Norway are planned.

The Norwegian pilot study consists of a convenience sample of 20 adults (18-65 years) and 10 legal guardians of children (7-12), recruited from the researchers` own networks and by snowball sampling. The data collection includes a 15-minute structured telephone-based interview. The questionnaire includes background questions, and measures on diet, physical activity, alcohol and nicotine use. Participants are also invited to participate in an in-depth interview regarding their perception and understanding of the questions in the questionnaire and the invitation letter. 

Objectives

The aim of the pilot study is to test the questionnaire, interview process and invitation letter before the third data collection of NORMO. 

Outcomes

The results from this pilot study will be presented in an internal report. 

Background

The Nordic monitoring of diet, physical activity and overweight (NORMO) plans for a third data collection in the autumn of 2023, in Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Iceland and Norway. In the third data collection, measures on sustainability have also been included. Previous data collections were conducted in 2014 and 2011. 

Financing

The pilot study is financed by the Nordic Council of Ministers.
