Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery is one of Europe’s largest, where all types of plastic surgery is performed, with the exemption of hand and cosmetic plastic surgery.
Most of the patients have diagnoses related to congenital malformations, cancer-related disorders and tissue defects as results from trauma/fire damage or other type of surgery.
The department has national treatment responsibility for patients with craniofacial malformations, gender incongruence and vascular anomalies. We hold a multiregional function for children cleft lip/palate.
Research primarily targets reconstructions applying free tissue transfer, treatment of children with cleft lip/palate, facial palsy, gender incongruence and regenerative medicine (epithel, urothel and fat grafting).
We are responsible for education and graduation in plastic surgery for medical students. In addition, education in basal general surgical training is conducted in the outpatient clinic.
