Division of Medicine and Laboratory Sciences
The Division of Medicine and Laboratory Sciences is the largest division at the Ahus Campus, with approximately 40 university employees.
Research and education are conducted here in the following subjects:
• Neurological diseases
• Childhood illnesses
• Heart disease
• Respiratory diseases
• Gastrointestinal diseases
• Kidney diseases
• Metabolism diseases
• Cancer
• Infectious diseases
• Blood diseases
• Laboratory subjects such as clinical biochemistry and radiology
A large and modern molecular biology laboratory is connected with the division (Department for Clinical Molecular Biology) and enables translational research at a high level.
The division has had an increasing level of publishing activity, and in the past several years researchers from this division have published articles in the world's leading medical journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, Lancet Neurology, JAMA, BMJ and PNAS.
A number of researchers at the division are members of the two first K.G. Jebsen Centres that were added to the University of Oslo.
