About

Aleksander Rygh Holten is a specialist in infectious diseases and is a senior consultant in the Department of Acute Medicine and Medical Intensive Care Unit at Oslo University Hospital, as well as being a Postdoc researcher at the University of Oslo.

He has initiated the ongoing research on early sepsis in the emergency department, focusing on early detection and subgrouping. The Sepsis-network now included partners from several departments of the University and hospital, with the mutual goal of improving early sepsis management.

Holten has also been involved in several COIVD-19 projects.

Ongoing projects

  • SEPSOMICS
multi-omics to identify sepsis endotypes in the emergency department - laying the groundwork for personalised therapy.
  • EU-SolidAct
a platform trial for RCTs in COVID-19. National Coordinating Investigator.
  • NOR-GECCO
Norwegian study of Genetic variation in Escherichia Coli and Clinical Outcome
  • CalSep
investigating the role of Calprotectin and other biomarkers in patients with suspected sepsis in the Emergency Department
  • Sepsis registers and sepsis biobank of Emergency Department Oslo University Hospital, Ullevål.
