I hold a background in molecular biology and mechanobiology with specialization in microscopy imaging. Over the course of my career, I have also garnered experience in facility management. I am commonly referred to as Edna.
I am poised to assume the role of Facility Manager at the Light Microscopy Imaging Facility within the Life Science Building of the university, which will be operated jointly by OUS and UiO. Prior to the completion of the Life Science Building, my work distribution will involve spending 40% of my time at the Advanced Imaging Facility at Radium Hospital (on Wednesdays and Thursdays) and 60% at the NorMIC Imaging Platform at IBV (on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays).
My areas of expertise encompass live cell imaging with a focus on high temporal and spatial resolution, as well as proficiency in various super-resolution microscopy technologies. Additionally, I serve as the principal organizer of the NorMIC imaging workshop series.
In addition to my responsibilities within the platform, I actively engage in my own research project to stay abreast of cutting-edge developments in the field of biological imaging. My primary research interests revolve around bio-imaging-based mechanobiology and intracellular trafficking. I was the topic editor of Tumor Cell Mechanosensitivity: Molecular Basis in Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology.
Key Work Experience:
2020-2023 Institute Lab Manager of NCMM
2017-2020 Imaging Scientist at NorMIC Imaging Platform
2019-2020: Visiting Researcher at Mechanobiology Institute, Singapore
2009- 2011 Light Microscopy Facility Manager of Mechanobiology Institute, Singapore
The Mechanobiology Institute is a Research Center of Excellence established in 2009 with an initial funding of approximately 800 million NOK, of which roughly 300 million NOK was allocated for optical microscopes. Over the course of its first decade, the institute has produced over 800 publications with impact factors consistently at or above 10.
