Heart and Brain - Bærum

Our main focuses are atrial fibrillation, stroke and the association between these diseases.

About the group

Heart and brain – interdisciplinary research on atrial fibrillation and stroke.

The Heart and brain research group at Bærum Hospital focuses on atrial fibrillation, stroke and the association between these diseases.

The group works interdisciplinary and conducts a number of clinical studies, including clinical treatment studies and studies on epidemiology, genetics, biobank/biomarker research, echocardiography, electrocardiography, carotid ultrasound and cognition.

Longterm goals

Our overall goal is to be at the front of research on atrial fibrillation, stroke and related conditions. We aim to establish new knowledge about assessment, treatment and improved quality of life in patients with atrial fibrillation and stroke.

Our research concerns both underlying causes and predictors of atrial fibrillation and stroke, as well as complications and treatment effects - both drug therapy and other interventions).

As a research group based at one of Norway's largest local hospitals, we have a unique access to large patient groups, and aim to increase the proportion of patients participating in research projects.
