PAEDIA - Paediatric Research Group Ahus

The overarching vision for PAEDIA is to improve the understanding, diagnosis and treatment of complex, common paediatric conditions.

About the group

The research portfolio includes clinical studies (including several intervention trials) as well as translational research on disease mechanisms across all paediatric subspecialities.

The research focuses primarily on prevalent conditions with complex causalities (such as post-COVID-19 condition and chronic fatigue syndrome/ME), and is characterised by an integrative, multidisciplinary approach.

Longterm goals

In the coming years, the strategic goals of PAEDIA are to:

  1. Consolidate a leading international role in the field of post-COVID-19 condition and chronic fatigue syndrome/ME research, primarily through the Collaborative on Fatigue Following Infection (COFFI).
  2. Increase the number of pragmatic intervention trials in close collaboration with the clinical department.
  3. Exploiting the opportunity of a large, multiethnic population, enabling research on prevalent conditions with the aim of improving clinical care to minorities.
  4. Strengthen collaboration with the Oslo University Hospital, paving the way for synergies due to different clinical populations.
  5. Improve external funding.
  6. Establish career trajectories towards ‘dual competence’ (scientific and clinical) for medical doctors as well as other health care professionals.
