Bridging affect consciousness, mentalization and trauma

Exploring an integrative treatment approach for Personality Disorder

Background and aims

Project development is in progress and will involve a ten-year data collection period aiming to provide grounds for both qualitative and quantitative studies in an RCT framework comparing MBT programs with and without an add-on intervention focusing on affect consciousness. The research site is an outpatient clinic within specialist level Mental Health Care in Stavanger specializing on treatment for personality disorder (PD). The project owner is SUS. The outpatient clinic is part of the Norwegian Network for Personality Disorders which provides infrastructure for the data collection. The first work package includes three qualitative studies and has received local funding for a PhD candidate (Eileen Oftedal, Stavanger DPS).

The project group

The project group has an interdisciplinary composition including clinicians and researchers. The following have been engaged in different aspects:
