As there will be neither a respondent nor an opponent, it will be a presentation of the work by Associate Professor Haseem Ashraf, followed by a short session where questions about Espen’s research may be asked and discussed.

Summary

CT-guided biopsy is a relatively safe method for obtaining tissue samples from thoracic tumors. The most frequent complication with CT-guided biopsy is pneumothorax, which can lead to treatment with the admission of a thoracic drain. Drain admission can be painful for the patient and, beyond this; it can contribute to prolonging the admission. It is therefore important to get more research investigating what predicts pneumothorax and how to avoid it.
