About the project
The hallmark of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is the presence of a prominent stroma, which can make up to 80% of the total tumour volume. It consists of extracellular matrix (ECM) components and the pancreatic stellate cells (PSCs), which produce the bulk of the ECM.
In this project, the impact of the PSCs and their main ECM products (fibronectin, collagens) on the cancer cells in terms of proliferation, migration and drug sensitivity is investigated. The experiments are based on direct and indirect co-culture of PDAC-derived cultures and PSC-cultures. The project utilizes general cell and molecular biology techniques, in vitro cancer research techniques and LC-MS/MS based proteomics.
