RURRR - Resident uncertainty: roots, reasoning, and remedy

We explore how inexperienced residents handle uncertainty in clinical practice, including how they communicate with colleagues and patients about uncertainty.

About the project

The aim of the study is to acquire knowledge that can make it easier to adapt coaching and supervision of inexperienced residents to the individual.

We have collected questionnaires from a total of 99 inexperienced residents at Nordland Hospital Trust and Akershus University Hospital before the start of their training.

20 of these were shadowed over two workdays and a reflection interview was conducted after each shift.
