StopAutoimmunity

The project's main research is the gut microbiota and its impact on chronic inflammatory diseases and autoimmunity.

About the project

In the ERC-funded project StopAutoimmunity we study primary sclerosing cholangitis, a disease of the liver and biliary tree, looking specifically at patients who get recurrent disease after liver transplantation.

The hypothesis is that byproducts of gut bacterial activity contributes to the disease process and that treatment targeting the gut may stop or reverse disease development.

This project has received funding from the European Research Council (ERC) under the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 802544.
