NCMM Group Leader receives event funding support from UiO:Life Science

Congratulations to NCMM Group Leader, Anthony Mathelier, who has been successful with an application for event support from UiO:Life Science.

The funding will be used to support a new series of regular seminars, The Furberg Oslo Bioinformatics and Biostatistics Seminars.

The seminars, organized in conjunction with Geir Kjetil Sandve, Torbjørn Rognes, and Arnoldo Frigessi, aim to attract renowned speakers to meet local PIs, students, and other interested members of the research community. Each seminar is centred around the theme of bioinformatics and biostatistics.

The events will help to create an arena for learning, exchanging ideas, and promoting scientific excellence; thereby helping to encourage more research collaborations in Oslo.

First seminar in series

The seminar series will start on March 16, with a lecture from Dr. Harald Binder, Professor at the Institute of Medical Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Informatics, University Medical Center, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Germany.

The lecture is titled, 'Two uses of stagewise regression: from landmarking in cancer patients to deep learning for SNPs.’

You can find the abstract and more details about the Dr. Harald Binder seminar here.
