Can you tell me a little bit about yourself?

I’m a father of three kids (between 1-10 years old), I love technology and I’m fascinated by biology. I did a wet lab Master’s in Protein Chemistry (NMBU) but ended up with a dry lab PhD in Bioinformatics from UiO (Radium hospital) on RNA-sequencing.

What were you doing before joining NCMM?

I've been working as a researcher at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences where I was involved in salmonid genomics (i.e. generating genome assemblies), but also in managing the local university computer cluster. Eons ago I was a sysadmin and network architect at different internet service providers.

What will you be responsible for in your role at NCMM?

Good question. Ask me in a few months! But I will work on the NCMM's IT team, with the computer servers.

What are you most looking forward to in your new role?

Assisting researchers in using the computing facilities in the most efficient way.
Is there something interesting  about yourself that you’d like to tell your new colleagues?

I love reading. I run (>= 10km). I spend time in the mountains (Valdres) in the family cabin. I wish I had more time to be a virtual air traffic controller and virtual pilot. I lived in Mexico City for two years.
