NCMM Associate Investigator, Professor Anne Simonesen, has been named as one of the winners of the King Olav V's Prize for Cancer Research 2019.

Professor Janna Saarela to join the Cellular and Molecular Biology group of the Academy’s Natural Sciences Division

Newly appointed Director of NCMM, Professor Janna Saarela, gave a welcome talk to staff on Wednesday 9 January. 

A drug development project started by the Taskén Group at NCMM is at the centre of a new and unique co-development agreement between a Norwegian start-up and an Indian pharmaceutical company. 

Unlike Sweden, Denmark and Finland, Norway currently does not have a dedicated cryo electron microscopy facility for single particle analysis. We interviewed NCMM’s Acting Director, Hartmut Luecke, and researcher Eva Cunha, about their experiences with using cryo-EM and the current plans to bring the technology to Norway. 

Dr Mathelier, head of the Computational Biology and Gene Regulation Group at NCMM, has been awarded a prestigious grant by the Research Council of Norway.

Congratulations to the Mathelier Group on their recent publication in the journal Nucleic Acids Research. PhD student in the Mathelier Group, Marius Gheorghe, is first author on the paper.

The Nordic EMBL Partnership is very pleased to announce that Professor Poul Nissen, Director of DANDRITE (Danish Research Institute of Translational Neuroscience) has been named as the third speaker of the Nordic EMBL Partnership.

NCMM hosts the 9th annual Nordic EMBL Partnership Meeting in the hills above Oslo. The annual Partnership meetings offer researchers an opportunity to come together for a programme of scientific discussion and networking.

Centre for Molecular Medicine Norway (NCMM) was externally evaluated by the Research Council of Norway in June 2018. The report has now been released, and NCMM is very pleased to announce that the Centre has been rated as ‘very good/excellent’ overall.
