Postdoctoral fellow Jaroslav Rokicki at NORMENT was awarded the prize for best poster during the NEURONUS conference in Krakow on April 20-22, 2018.

Jaroslav Rokicki

NEURONUS is a multidisciplinary European forum for researchers from different fields of neuroscience.

Rokicki was awarded the Biological Poster Presentation Award for his poster entitled Gene expression in various brain disorders. In this study, Rokicki and colleagues investigated how genes involved in schizophrenia, ADHD and Alzheimer's disease are expressed in the brain.

In brief, the results showed that genetic variants related to schizophrenia and ADHD are not expressed in the same regions of the brain, which gives important knowledge about similarities and differences between the disorders. Further, the current findings indicate that the method being used is a promising approach to increase our understanding of the distinct and shared mechanisms across different brain disorders.

The study is based on a collaboration between NORMENT brain imaging and genetics groups in Oslo and Bergen.
