The NORMENT 2050 initiative

NORMENT’s Centre of Excellence funding from the Research Council of Norway will end in June 2023. However, the database and biobank of the Centre will continue through an initiative called “NORMENT 2050”.

Through the years, the NORMENT Centre has built up a large database and biobank, based on data from several thousand participants that have generously volunteered to take part in our research. These valuable and unique data will be made available for future research also after June 2023, when NORMENT ends its period as a Centre of Excellence.

The name of this prolonged database and biobank is "NORMENT 2050". This is an  infrastructure to contain hitherto collected data and continued data collection and laboratory samples under the NORMENT umbrella, and also associated data collections for which there is ethical agreement to store data up to 2050.

NORMENT 2050 will from July 2023 be operational with possibility to enter, store and extract data after approval from the steering group. A limited fee might accompany data extraction and other services to ascertain necessary maintenance and service functions. The final organization and structure of the infrastructure will be finalized in 2021.
