The aim of this thesis was to identify neuronal activity in cognitive and the relationship between cognitive control mechanisms and glutamate measured in the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC). A possible relationship between glutamate, neuronal activation, and dysfunctional cognitive control processes in schizophrenia was further examined.
