MEDRA calls for abstracts

The conference is on Medical and Legal Knowledge and the Problematic of Translation, March 6–7, 2024. Deadline for submission: December 10, 2023.

Submission process

Submission of abstracts for individual presentations:

Abstracts of 300–500 words should be sent by 10 December 2023 to May-Len Skilbrei (m.l.skilbrei@jus.uio.no)

Notification of acceptance will be given by 30 December 2023.

Time and location for the conference

6.–7. March 2024 at the University of Oslo.

The conference seeks to bring together researchers to focus on the interaction of medical, legal and lay understandings of phenomena that are highly topical and political, namely rape and abortion.

Organizing

The conference is organized by May-Len SkilbreiEivind EngebretsenKari SolbrækkeMona Baker and Ane Elida Fonneløp.

Financing

The main financier for the conference is the research project "Medical, legal and lay understandings of physical evidence in rape cases" (Evidently Rape) which is funded by UiO:Life Science.

The conference is also co-financed by the research project "The Medicalisation of Democratic Rights in the Debate about Abortion" (MEDRA) which is funded by UiO:Democracy.
