Examination guidelines/assessment criteria MED3007 – Statistical Principles in Genomics: an Introduction with Rstudio

For the take-home exam, the students will receive a data file in the same format used in the class, and they will need to perform an analysis at their choice on the data, showing the results via plots and/or tables.

The exam must be submitted as either an appropriately commented code file (.R, .Rmd, .txt) reproducing all analyses or a document file (.doc, .pdf) showing the analysis details, their results, and reporting the source code they used (functions). Relevant figures and/or tables from Rstudio must be copied into the document and commented.

In case the code file is preferred, maximum 500 lines should be used. If using the code file in the .R or .Rmd format, you will need to zip the file to .zip format before uploading it to Inspera.
In case the document is preferred, it should be maximum ten pages in font Times New Roman size 12.

Assessment criteria

  • The approach and method presented in the submission must be supported in the learning outcome.
  • The chosen approach and method must at least partially reproduce one of the approaches used in class in the computer sessions with Rstudio.
  • The chosen approach and method must be shortly presented and justified (if the code file is submitted, this can be done in comments).
  • If the document is submitted, the included figures and/or tables from Rstudio are relevant, necessary and sufficiently explained.
  • The submission is formulated in a clear manner and the results of the analyses are interpreted correctly.

Not passed is given if the candidate does not meet the criteria given above.
