Organization

The Center for Pandemics and One-Health Research (P1H) at the Faculty of Medicine (MED), University of Oslo (UiO) will be a hub for pandemic and One Health related research across UiO.

The Center for Pandemics and One-Health Research was established at the Faculty of Medicine as one of three centers organized under the Sustainable Health Unit (SUSTAINIT).

Leadership and administration

The staff will be responsible for organizing joint activities for research groups affiliated with the centre and for promoting interdisciplinary interaction both within and between relevant entities at UiO. The student group, in particular, has the role to ensure that P1H activities are relevant to the student perspective and visible to students at UiO and members of the public.

Background

In 2021, UiO initiated a process with a view to establishing an interdisciplinary pandemic center. UiO has many very strong environments linked to relevant research and research training, which are scattered throughout the university.

In establishing a center for pandemics and one-health research, the idea was to achieve far better synergy between the research environments. The center will also be a visible player in the interaction with society around us - nationally as well as internationally.

A steering group and a reference group were set up in 2021 to investigate the possibilities of establishing a center. The groups, active until the establishment of P1H, were composed of representatives from most of the faculties at UiO.
